The only reason that they can get away with being so incredibly terrible is that they have an effective monopoly on the compounding pharmacy market in this area. We will have to find a compounding pharmacy out of our area to provide our medication from now on.
We've been using for Penro for quite some time as we thought they were the only solution. They just went out of business and thank goodness! Their license was suspended by the state!
If you need a long term relationship with a compounding pharmacy, find another option! These guys will have you pulling your hair out in a month or two, not to mention going without your essential medication.
TERRIBLE!! I never give bad reviews, and I am one of easiest going guys you could meet, but this place brings me to the brink of madness.
I conveyed their system is in dire need ot a fix and they owe it to all customers to offer a better response process since nothing is in place there right now!
We have been using Penro for years, and they have steadily digressed into the most miserable place to do business that I have ever encountered. The worst possible customer service, and they fail to improve month after month. It has really become unbearable, and we will never go back there again.
Update: 4/24/17-
I am very impressed with their customer service and willingness to discuss options. I needed to have a medication compounded since the inert base of the commercial medication irritated my skin. Neal gave me free samples of the base options for me to test on my skin before compounding the medication. This saved time, money, and pain. Recently, I asked him for non-Rx options for muscle relaxers and NSAIDs and he was very helpful. I really appreciate the service and personal attention.
My biggest concern is poor communication or lack of a reply to a question or inquiry.
My last Rx refill was lost there although I submitted it on one using their refill form and yes, it was sent, but, never viewed apparently.
We have a dog on cancer med for life. Penro beat other prices on it and being a local company as well, we chose (with help from our vet) to use them.
If they fix this or improve the situation, I'll gladly update this review.
Their store is a perpetual construction zone, with half finished projects and odds and ends all over the place. I believe this disarray is representative of the whole culture at Penro.
I just left a voice message there yesterday asking for status when they reopen on Monday.
In asking twice this week what is the status of my lost refill request and about how long it would take for it to be filled, I got zip replies, no one replied at all.
Right now, I'm getting quotes for the same med at two other local compounding pharmacies in the area.
We would call in prescriptions and normally get a 2-3 day turn around. When they didn't have the product, they wouldn't call us until we called them. We currently have our most recent prescription and are fearful they messed it up. Our cat is acting the same way he did when he wasn't on his meds.
I sense great disorganization there right now. Plus a total lack of attention to customer communication.
They finally got the refill completed and I picked it up today.
As a physician, I've counted on Penro compounding to take care of my patients. Neal produces high quality medications that are allergen-free and accurate. I know exactly what my patients are getting and it's in a form that we are all satisfied with and that will be delivered effectively. Neal has also given me sound advice regarding appropriate forms of bioidentical hormones.
I had a long chat w/ owner on the break in good communication and he admitted they do not do well there nor is anything for the time being being done to improve this. I emphasized it would be nice to have good communication and at least know Penro received a refill request.
They are totally disorganized, and fail repeatedly to mail out our much needed anti-seizure medication on time, and it is always a hassle getting it filled lately. This is not the kind of medicine you can play around with, and just stop taking until the pharmacy gets their act together.
Now the refill is delayed more then a week (I inquired about it 4-5 days after not hearing any reply to confirm receipt) and they are scrambling to try to get it filled asap.
While cost for this expensive medication ($270/month) is certainly a factor, peace of mind in getting it on time for refills and good communication from my pharmacist must be a high priority as well.
